India: SMS sending to be restricted to 100 per day

Are you fond of sending text messages via SMS? Well, sad to say that our friends from India won’t really have a choice, because theTelecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI) plans to regulate sending of SMS for everyone. According to Indian tech blogTech2, starting Feb 1st 2011, all telecom operators will be forced to restrictover700 million mobile phone subscribers to only 100 SMS sent per day. Being an industry-wide regulation, consumers won’t be able to avail of more SMS, even if they are willing to pay....

Indian authorities consider ban on TigerText private text messaging app

Indian Authorities are contemplating a ban onTigerText, a multi-platform private messaging app, according to a report fromThe Hindu. TigerText which was launched in Feb 2010, allows users to send destructible text messages i.e. messages which get automatically deleted from both the sender and the receiver’s phone after a certain period of time. Further, these messages aren’t stored on any server and hence can’t be retrieved once the message expires. This feature has stumbled Indian security agencies as it can be easily misused by terrorists or anti-social elements and there is no mechanism in place to retrieve these sent messages or photos, thus posing a huge threat to Indian security....

Indian entrepreneurs benefit as starting a business will soon take 1 day

India’s Ministry of Corporate Affairs hasannouncedthat it is simplifying the procedures involved in incorporating a company, in order to help budding entrepreneurs across the country. According to the ministry, entrepreneurs will now be able to incorporate their companies within 24 hrs, which previously took anaverage of 29 days, starting August 11. The Ministry said it has already implemented the online approval of a Director’s Identification Number (DIN) from June 12 and name registration for the proposed company was made available online from July 24....
