The Indian mobile market which is one of the biggest markets in the world afterChina, is expected to touch $63 billion revenue, according to a research report fromCybermedia. The report says that the handset and services market will grow 16.7% by next year to touch Rs 2880m ($63 billion), with telecom services such as VoIP and data services expected to bring in Rs 2050m ($45 billion) and the mobile handsets which includes smartphones as well as feature phones, will bring in Rs 830m ($18 billion) – 30% growth over the year....

Almost ayearafter the 3G action ended, the Indian mobile carriers are yet to see an influx of subscribers to welcome 3G. The auction that fetched the government close to US$8.5 billion, saw the leading operators in the country spend over 3000 Crore INR each for the major telecom circles like Delhi and Mumbai. The seven operators that participated in the auction spent between 5000 Crore INR and 12000 Crore INR – Bharti Airtel and Vodafone being the highest spenders at the auction....

The Indian Government, in a bid to go paperless, is bestowing each member of the Parliament with a Rs. 50,000 sanction to buy themselves a tablet, with Rajya Sabha MP Sitaram Yechury already having gotten his hands on a shiny new iPad 2.
