Apple labels the iPhone 4S as a “world phone” and for good reason. According toa report byMacworld, Sprint will sell the iPhone 4S with an unlocked SIM card slot from day one, enabling international travellers to use it outside the USA at much cheaper rates. The iPhone 4S ships with support for both CDMA (Sprint, Verizon) and GSM (AT&T) protocols. But while the latter is prominently used across the world, the CDMA technology is only in use in the United States and some parts of Asia....

It’s been months in the making, and today we finally have confirmation from Apple, as well as a few squashed rumors. Apple has released theiPhone 4S today, as well as iOS 5 and the addition of Sprint in the company’s lineup of US carriers. The next iPhone will be released some time this fall and speculation has come down to two basic time frames, some time in September or some time in October. One indication that the iPhone 5 may arrive sooner, rather than later, is the fact that the hardware has been delivered to carriers for testing,according to The Guardian’s Charles Arthur. Arthur says that the boxes used for testing have been delivered to the carriers to ensure compatiblity....

An employee of Apple supplier Foxconn was paid to ‘lose’ an iPhone 5 prototype, which was then used to create dozens ofcasemockups we’ve seen that demonstrate a redesigned iPhone,reports M.I.C. Gadget. The site quotes a source that spins an interesting tale about a stolen iPhone 5 and sold to a case manufacturer. The manufacturer then used the device to create the patterns that we have been seeing pop up,billedas iPhone 5 cases....
