TNW Quick Hit: Microsoft has announced that it has sold its10 millionth Kinect device. Even more, in the same announcement the Redmond giant revealed that some 10 million standalone Kinect games have also been sold. The Kinect is the fastest selling consumer gadgetof all time. The Kinect sold1 million units in 10 days, and8 million in 60. Now with some 10 million units sold, Microsoft has created a brand new product segment in the world of consumer entertainment....

Get sad, ladies and gentlemen, Kinect Star Wars justslipped its launch dateand will now be landing in 2012. We’ve been tracking Kinect Star Wars since it was announced, mostly because it is likely to be a blockbuster title when it is released, but also because, well, it’s Star Wars. When we did get a chance to look at the game in action, we were somewhat skeptical of its controls, and its overall feel....

It should come as no surprise to any of our regular readers that Microsoft, Google and Apple are in a fight to be the platform of choice for our living rooms. Well, I just happen to have all three in my living room right now in the form of the following devices: Xbox with Kinect; the Logitech Revue Google TV; an iPad; a Windows 7 computer and an Android phone (and a Chrome OS notebook, but that doesn’t really do multimedia so well, so I’m not going to count that)....

We all know thatKinect for PC is coming, but when and how have been up for debate. Taking the reins, a company has put together an app that harnesses the Kinect for PC use. While the app is not groundbreaking, and from the looks of the demo is a bit shaky, it does show off just what the Kinect could mean for the future of computing input. Microsoft has been pushing the concept of NUI, or natural user interface, heavily now for some time....

Shortly after its release in November last year Kinect, Microsoft’s motion sensor controller for the Xbox 360, was hacked and automatically opened up to a whole range of interesting functions beyond its intended purpose. Initially Microsoft was a little cagey around this treatment of their new tech but soon began to talk about the controller in terms being “open by design” and even started to show some enthusiasm towards it being used in this way....
