Rumours suggesting that Motorola’s XOOM tablet would initially go on sale in the U.S with an $800 price tag have been confirmed by the company’s mobility chief Sanjay Jha, who says that the tablets’ ability to deliver 4G speeds justifies a higher price that its iPad rival. Motorola Mobility has announced that the Motorola ATRIX will be available at Malaysian retailers beginning 17 June 2011 at a price of RM 1,999. The ATRIX is Motorola’s Android smartphone with a netbook-sized dock that allows users to run Android applications on an 11.6″ screen. In addition to a larger screen the dock features a full keyboard, track pad, stereo speakers, and 36Wh three-cell battery that delivers up to eight hours of battery life....

The publishing of a merger agreement detailing Google’s $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola Mobility has identified that the smartphone vendor will not be able to solicit any other offers,reports Bloomberg. Terms included in the merger agreement state that all employees and directors, outside advisers and legal counsel of the handset maker must have ceased all solicitation of other proposals by August 15. Ironically, Motorola’s board must still consider any unsolicited superior proposal it receives, as part of its fiduciary duty....

Microsoft could land yet another Windows Phone partner, but at a price.
