Motorola XOOM to launch without Flash support

If a flyer onVerizon Wireless’ websiteis accurate, the Motorola XOOM Android Honeycomb tablet could ship without Adobe Flash support with compatibility coming in “Spring 2011”. Engadgetspotted the small print on a XOOM promotional flyer, which lists some of the Motorola tablet’s impressive specifications and asks visitors to enter their email address to sign up for future updates on the device. There are numerous reasons why Flash won’t be available at launch, the most likely being that the current Flash builds are not optimised for use on the Android Honeycomb operating system....

Motorola XOOM WiFi hits Canada in April

It wasannouncedtoday by Motorola Mobility Canada that the XOOM (WiFi) tablet will be hitting Canadian retailer shelves at the beginning of April. Motorola’s XOOM is powered by Android 3.0 and sports a 10.1” HD widescreen display, two cameras (rear-facing 5MP, front-facing 2MP), 1 GHZ dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and unlike the iPad, it supports Adobe Flash. Considering that we’re hearing loads of rumours about iPad 2 stockouts, it will be interesting to see whether this will affect XOOM sales....

Suggestions that there could be alengthy waitfor Motorola XOOM owners to get Adobe’s Flash 10.2 on their tablets have been calmed after the software company announced it would make it available for download “within a few weeks of Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) devices becoming available”. Adobe notes in ablog postthat Flash Player 10.2 will be pre-installed on some tablets – we assume any tablet that runs anything but Honeycomb will fall into this category – with optimisation for Honeycomb accounting for the delay on tablets including the Motorola XOOM....
