According to reports fromReuters, Finnish mobile phone giant Nokia has dropped its first MeeGo smartphone before it even had the chance to launch, increasing speculation that the company might soon abandon the operating system altogether. Despite the fact the project has been dropped, the smartphone, that some believe could be the Nokia N9, could still be unveiled at the companies Capital Markets Day in London on February 11. The Nokia N9 has broken cover afew times in the past; sporting a Macbook style design, the device featured a full QWERTY keyboard and was rumoured to be powered by an Intel Atom processor....

Nokia has reportedly moved forward with its agreement with Taiwanese original device manufacturer (ODM) Compal to begin the production of 2 million Nokia Windows Phone smartphones that are expected to be delivered in September. Details of the order are scarce but Dan Nystedt, IDG Technology journalist in Taiwan,tweeted the news, confirming that Nokia had made an order for its new Windows Phone Mango smartphones, which are expected to go on sale in October....

Finnish mobile giant Nokia is reportedly allocating £80 million to spend on a major global marketing campaign for its new Windows Phone smartphones, due to launch in October.
