Mac using fans of Microsoft’s productivity suite can rejoice, the first service pack for Office for Mac 2011 isdropping next week. According to Microsoft the update will include tweaks and feature upgrades. The chief addition to the popular productivity suite is the new inclusion of the capability to calendar sync between Apple’s services and Outlook for Mac. Service pack 1 (SP1) will also include “increased stability, security… [and] performance enhancements.”...

With Nokia’ssecond-quarter financialsless than an hour old, its rival Apple is now officially selling more iPhone’s per quarter than Nokia’s entire smartphone range. Nokia sold just 16.7 million smartphones in its second quarter, compared to 20.3 million iPhones detailed in Apple’s earnings report on Tuesday. It means that Applemade almost four times the revenuefrom iPhones ($13.3bn) as Nokia did from smartphones (€2.4bn/$3.4bn). The Finnish company is now ranked as the third largest smartphone provider, behind Apple and Samsung....

With the BlackBerry PlayBook almost ready to hit the market, RIM hasfinally declaredthat its professional tablet will support Android applications. Launching on April 19 in the U.S and Canada, developers will be able to use two optional “app players” to allow the running of Java Blackberry apps and Android apps. which will support application run-time environment for BlackBerry Java apps and Android applications created for Android 2.3 and lower. That means that BlackBerry Playbook owners will be able to take advantage of the 200,000 Android applications already available on the Android Market, adding to the 25,000 apps already available on BlackBerry App World....

According to India’s telecom regulator,TRAI, along with industry statistics, the real number of active mobile users in India is only around 500 million, much lower than the projected official number of 811.59 million by March 2011. The study is based on the TRAI’s report detailing the cellphone connections in the country as of February 2011.
