Opera today releasedversion 11.50of the underdog browser, introducing password sync, Speed Dial extensions, and a new design. The new design is much lighter and more minimalistic than its predecessors, and is in fact calledFeatherweightby the Opera team. Speed Dial extensions give you a customizable dashboard of information. The idea isn’t new —iGooglehas done the same thing for a long time — but it’s a handy thing to have nonetheless. Browser firmOperahas announced that it has hit a pretty impressive milestone – 100 million people using its mobile browser software each month. Figures from the company’sState of the Mobile Web reportshow that 90.4 million people now use Opera Mini, and approximately 15 million people use Opera Mobile each month. In all, the Norwegian company says that 105 million people use Opera on their phones. In fact, Opera says that the number is actually higher than that, as the 105 million figure only counts people who have actively installed one of the company’s mobile browser – it doesn’t count the number of users who have it pre-installed on their phones at purchase, although Opera doesn’t share this particular figure....

Opera Software has launched a new email service for My Opera, Opera Link and Opera Unite account holders, delivering a new AJAX interface that includes many features from thecompany’s acquisitionof web-based email provider Fastmail.fm. As of today, all My Opera accounts now have an @myopera.com email address, allowing users to access the new mail service located athttps://mail.opera.com. Users simply have to log in with the same username and password they use for their Opera accounts and they will be granted access to the email service, currently in Beta....
