Amazing but true? Man asks the Internet for a million dollars, and gets it

If this is true, it’s quite frankly amazing – but I have to say I’m not convinced. Comedy actorCraig Rowinrecently posted a video to YouTube asking for one million dollars. He had no specific need for it, he just wanted it. After his initial plea to celebrities and other millionaires to share their fortunes with him, he followed up with a couple ofadditionalvideosand even anappearance on TV newsin Alabama. All that persistence seems to have paid off – from his latest video it looks like a millionaire actually came through....

Amazing. Google Goggles can now solve Sudoku puzzles

Google Goggles for Android has received a new update (version 1.3), allowing users to take a photo of an unsolved Sudoku puzzle, the software will then analyse it and solve it upon request. Google Goggles, if you didn’t know, is an innovative service that allows smartphone users to search the web by simply taking a picture with their handset. Today’s update brings not only a Sudoku solver but also faster barcode recognition, support for all print advertisements that have been in circulation since August 2010 and a torch mode to illuminate subjects (on supported handsets)....

Amazon (finally) issues an outright apology.

It’s been almost two weeks since Amazon’s EC2 and RDS service took a fall sending an enormous number of websites and web appscrumbling to their feet. One of the biggest criticisms of the whole affair was Amazon’s deafly silence. As startups and businesses were left to apologise to their customers because of Amazon’s failure. Amazon maintained its silence. Today, two weeks later, Amazon has issued an apology and a post mortem –found here....
