We knew that Samsung had plans to introduce new devices, thinking it would wait for a Mobile World Congress (MWC) launch. Today it has announced four new devices, the Galaxy Ace, the Galaxy Fit, the Galaxy Gio and the Samsung Galaxy Mini. The four smartphones are aimed at different consumer markets. Building on the impressive 10 million sales of the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, Samsung is looking to build demand for the devices before consumers and press get the chances to see them at MWC....

According to a report fromDigitimes, Samsung Electronics will focus on its line of smartphones in 2011 to increase its overall market share for handsets to 30%. Samsung is currently holding a 20% market share in terms of volume and 15% in terms of value, which is still behind HTC and Nokia. They are leading, however, in CDMA models with a market share of over 30%, according to sources. Samsung has a robust lineup of smartphones lined up for 2011 carrying Android and its in-house operating systemBada, and will later on release Windows Phone 7s in Chinese by the second half of the year....

Samsung has announced it has cancelled its Samsung Unpacked 2011 showcase on 11 October in San Diego, where it was expected to debut a new flagship Android smartphone in partnership with Google, stating that “it is just not the right time to announce a new product”. The event dubbed, Samsung Unpacked: Google Edition, was also touted to be the date of Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich launch, ushering in a new smartphone software that would go toe-to-toe with Apple’s iOS 5 firmware....

The news that Samsung and Googlehad decided to postponethe launch of the Galaxy Nexus smartphone and Ice Cream Sandwich software at a CTIA event in San Diego software surprised a lot of people, a delay that many speculate was as a result of Steve Jobs’ passing on Thursday morning. Just hours after the official co-statement, The Next Web has learned that the postponed event might not be delayed for long, with the new date for the Samsung event being set for October 27....

We’ve just gotten an email that verifies the new date for the rescheduled Samsung/Google event, which wasinitially setto have been held this week at CTIA in San Diego. According to the release: “The Samsung/Google media event has been rescheduled to take place on October 19 in Hong Kong, China at S221 Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.” We had, at first,gotten confirmationfrom a reliable source that the two were set to do an event in the UK on the 27th of this month, but it now appears that the event in the UK will (at any rate) not be for the same reason....
