Samsung has today officially announced the arrival of the Galaxy S II in the US. The phone will be coming to Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T in an effort to capitalize on its success elsewhere in the world. There are three variants of the device, one for each carrier, although most of the specs are identical. The Samsung Galaxy S II has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 16GB of storage, a 4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera....

Korean electronics giant Samsung announced on Monday that engineers working with advanced LED technologies had made a significant breakthrough, allowing the company to produce large advanced display panels with normal glass panels, suggesting that within the next decade window panes could also double as lighting and display screens. The Korea Times reportsthat the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology successfully fabricated “single crystalline Gallium Nitride on amorphous glass substrates”, a breakthrough that could see the company move away from sapphire substrates, helping to build significantly larger products whilst lowering production costs....

Samsung unveiled three new Bada-based phoneson Tuesday to add to its Wave lineup, the Wave 3, Wave M and Wave Y,according to a Reuters report. These phones add to the seven Wave phones that are already a part ofits Bada portfolio. The Wave 3, with its 4-inch WVGA AMOLED display, 1.4GHz processor and 5-megapixel camera, is the most high-powered member in the lineup. It is made of anodised aluminium and weighs in at 122 grams....

Korean electronics giant Samsung has done what was expected of it andappealed the injunctionplaced upon sales and imports of its Galaxy Tab 10.1 device in Germany, filing an appeal with the Dusseldorf Higher Regional Court on Tuesday. Samsung has not indicated what its appeal will be based on but follows a statement last Friday that it would fight the ruling, which bans it from distributing the device in Germany and selling it via its German unit across the whole of the European Union....

Samsung has announced that downloads across its mobile and TV application stores have surpassed the 100 million barrier, reaching the milestone within ten months. The Samsung Apps service launched with the Samsung Wave (GT-S8500) smartphone in June 2010, reaching 10 million downloads in its first three months, before exploding to reach 100 million over the next seven. At present, there are over 13,000 applications available on the Samsung Apps marketplace, six times as many as there were available in June....
