Apple’s legal fight with Samsung could be brought to an end in Australia after lawyers for the Korean electronics giant offered Apple a deal on a patent dispute that could see the Galaxy Tab 10.1 device go on sales in the country in less than a week. The WSJ reportsthat the two companies emerged from a court hearing at the country’s Federal Court in Sydney on Friday, acknowledging that an offer had been made but details of the proposed deal were not discussed in front of the court....

Samsung has today announced that it has postponed the launch of its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in Australia, reportsGizmodo. The launch was to occur next Thursday, August 11th. Samsung has begun mass producing its active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) panels in its new factory, two months ahead of schedule, as it attempts to cope with demand for the latest wave of smartphones and tablets. Samsungannounced in September 2010that it would open its new $2.1 billion facility in July increasing production output tenfold as a result. With sales of the company’s Galaxy S II smartphone alreadytopping one million unitsin its home country alone, Samsung is able to boost its AMOLED production from 3 million units per month, up to 30 million in the same period....

Not content with fighting in the courtroom, Samsung has taken the fight to Apple in the week before the iPhone 4S goes on sale byrenting a pop-up shopjust metres down the road from Apple’s Sydney store, offering consumers the Samsung Galaxy S II for just $2 for one week only. Interest in the Samsung phone has been healthy, with queues stretching back further than the Apple Store down the road – although this might have something to do with the Korean smartphone giant limiting $2 Galaxy S II handsets to the first 10 people in the line each day....

New images have leaked suggesting that Samsung is preparing to add a smaller and more robust version of its Galaxy S handset. It’s the first time the handset, codenamed Samsung S5830, hasemerged in photosbut judging from the images it will compliment the already hugely successful range of Galaxy S smartphones and could possibly be referred to as the Samsung Galaxy S Mini.
