UK mobile operator Vodafone has become the first carrier in Europe to roll out operator billing for Android devices, allowing its customers in the UK (and soon Germany) to charge app purchases to their existing mobile bill. Customers on both pay monthly and pay-as-you-go tariffs will now be able to select an option on the Android Market which will process the payment via Google’s carrier billing services, bypassing its own payment service....

Computer security firm McAfee said that virus attacks on mobile platforms were on the rise and that Android had for the first time unseated Symbian as the most-attacked mobile OS in the market,according to a report by Reuters. Sales of smartphones powered by Google’s Android mobile operating system passed 10 million units in South Korea this week, after sales data was released by mobile carriers operating in the country,Yonhap News reports. Figures put the country’s largest mobile carrier SK Telecom Co. at 6.18 million subscribers with Android devices as of Monday, KT Corp. reports 2.06 million, with the smallest operator claiming 1.86 million. The combined figures account for around 70% of the country’s smartphone market, which is currently estimated to be 14....
