Angry Birds milestones don’t seem very hard to come by these days, the game is so popular that its creators have no problem generating another piece of publicity for the multi-platform game. It has emerged that on Android smartphones alone, Angry Birds hassurpassed 30 million downloadssince its launch in October. The ad-supported app initially hit Android handsets in beta, topping 1 million downloads in two weeks, with themain releasepassing 5 million downloads in the month of December....

Well, that did not take long at all. TheChrome version of Angry Birdshas only been live for a few hours and it’s already been hacked to give players access to all of the levels. Web developerWes Bossaw the potential to make a slight change to the web cache and had a working hack in a short time. Bos says that he was able to quickly find a hack that gave him access to all of the levels in the game, even the special Chrome levels....

We knew Angry Birds was popular – it has surpassed 50 million downloads on mobile platforms and recently launched on both PC and Mac. What we didn’t realise is just how much time is spent playing the game worldwide; some 200 million minutes are spent on Angry Birds titles each day. The revelation came from an interview between Indian technology websiteTechTreeand Rovio’s “Mighty Eagle” Peter Vesterbacka. The interview detailed Rovio’s plans for the future; the launch Angry Birds on additional console gaming platforms, highlighting the partnership between Rovio and Hollywood studios for the upcoming movie Rio and Angry Birds Rio title, even mentioning that there was even a Bollywood version of the game in the works....

The Heist, a puzzle game from the team behindMacHeistthatwe covered recently, has beatenAngry Birdsout of the US App Store’s Top Paid App spot in just half a day, bringing a record 275 day run for Rovio’s runaway app to an end. According toThe Loop, The Heist’s developers report 25,233 sales of the app in half a day, which was enough to beat Angry Birds — at least for now. It remains to be seen whether The Heist will see the sustained sales that have kept Angry Birds high in the charts for so long: the competition for a customized iPad 2 couldn’t have hurt initial traction....

Angry Birds fanatics can now get their fix on desktop PCs running Windowsdirect from Rovio. Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio and, soon, Angry Birds Seasons are available for demo and purchase on the web now. These are fully downloadable, offline versions of the Angry Birds games and do not require a browser to play. Both games run in windowed or full-screen modes.
