Apple isn’t the only company named as a defendant: The Weather Channel and Pandora Media are also listed, as are “Does 1-10” — as yet unnamed companies — in the lawsuit brought by Lymaris M. Rivera Diaz. Diaz’s filings accuse Apple of capturing the iPhone’s Unique Device ID and location data and transmitting these to advertisers....

Apple files another lawsuit against Samsung in Japan, seeks ¥100m in damages

Apple’s legal battle with Samsung over patents, designs and packing covering its iPhone and iPad devices has been extended to Japan, after the Cupertino-based company filed a lawsuit against the Korean electronics giant, seeking 100 million yen in damages. The lawsuit was filed with the Tokyo District Court, naming Samsung Japan Corporation and Samsung Telecommunications Japan, accusing the companies of violating patents that cover technologies used its its mobile devices. Apple argues that Samsung’s Galaxy smartphone infringes on these patents, an Android device that Samsung currently offers to Japanese consumers as an alternative to the iOS-powered iPhone....

Apple files countersuit against Samsung in the UK

It appears there are no limits to the legal fight between Apple and Samsung after the Cupertino-based company filed a countersuit against Samsung in a UK court, accusing the Korean vendor of copying its iPhone and iPad product designs. According to ZDNet UK, Samsung acknowledged the countersuit, explaining that it was action in response to its original High Court filing back in June. Whilst the patents in question remain unknown, they are thought to be related to specific software operation patents and the design of the iPad and iPhone....
