Excelerate Labs, perhaps Chicago’sbest known incubator, held its second annual demo day yesterday, at the localHouse of Blues. It was a somewhat fitting venue, as the city’s mayor, Rahm Emmanuel, did drop by to give a short speech in between pitching sessions. As with any tech event, there was no functioning WiFi. A network had been set up, but it immediately failed under the stress of a packed room filled with hundreds of investors and founders....

Ahh, the great rumor mill, when shall it cease its endless spin? Never. It won’t. Stop asking. And, on that note, a chunk of information about iOS 15 just leaked. We call that a “smooth segue” in the business. Anyway, there are a range of updates pencilled in for iOS 15,according to a Bloomberg report. This includes an upgrade to notifications, a new iPad Home Screen, and additional privacy features....

Last week we received an invitation from AT&T. In part, the invitation read: “Before we can send the time and address, we need confirmation that says you agree not to disclose the location of the NOC in any written/visual materials you produce.” Intrigued, we accepted today’s invite. I visited the top-secret location, snapped a few pictures, captured some video and witnessed first-hand AT&T’s Network Operations Center (NOC), where the company monitors and maintains its network and services, and hear of AT&T’s 2011 network upgrade plans....
