Facebook user John Graham, a 42-year-old Leawood lawyer from Kansas, is suing the leading social network in representation of the 150 million Facebook users in the United States. According to Graham, Facebook is in violation of wiretap laws as it uses a tracking cookie to record web browsing history after users have already logged off of Facebook. Both Facebook and Graham are currently declining to comment. In the past, courts have dismissed similar cases filed under wiretap law against Facebook, claiming that computer cookies do not equal wiretaps....

While Wikileaks head Julian Assange has made some pretty serious accusations toward Facebook, the team in blue hasn’t taken them lightly. For a bit of backstory (or read the whole thing here) Assange had stated in an interview that Facebook and other large Internet properties were offering backdoor access to US intelligence at Uncle Sam’s whim. It’s not a matter of serving a subpoena, they have an interface they have developed for US Intelligence to use....

Facebook has todayannouncedFacebook for Every Phone, an app for any Java enabled phone that allows access to most of Facebook’s features to phones without a way to install native apps. The app will work on any phone that uses Java, servicing some 2,500 models of phones that have not previously had access to an official app for Facebook. To celebrate the launch of the app, Facebook is making data used by the app free for 90 days in many countries around the world....

In ablog poston his site today, Jeff Verkoeyen gave the reasons that he is leaving Facebook for Google, laying much of the blame at the foot of the Facebook app for iPad. He was the lead engineer on the project and says that it has been ‘feature complete’ since May, when he stopped working on it. After months of delays in the release of the app, during which he was working 80 hour weeks to complete it for an ‘imminent’ release, Verkoeyen finally got fed up with Facebook’s refusal to release it and is moving on to work at backend at Google....

Microsoft has just released an updated version of its Facebook for Windows Phone 7 application, which finally brings push notifications, ahead of the native notification support expected in theWindows Phone Mangoupdate. What’s actually great about this is the amount of customization that it allows for users, which is possibly a prelude of how Mango will handle notifications across different apps. Users can choose to be notified on Message, Wall Post, Feed comment, Feed comment reply, Photo tag, Photo comment, Tagged photo comment, Photo comment reply, among others....
