Facebook is almost ready to release its long-overdue iPad application, theNew York Times reports. While the company had a Facebook app for the iPhone ready to go as soon as the App Store was available to users, it has neither released or indicated a release for the iPad in the year since the amazingly successful tablet device was released. And users haven’t been happy about it, forced to use the iPhone application, which handles poorly and looks worse on the iPad, or the mobile web app....

Facebook is today beginning a program that will allow them to compensate hackers that discover vulnerabilities in the site’s code,reports Computerworld. In order to be compensated, the hackers must sign up for the newwhitehat hacking portaland report the issues directly to Facebook’s security team. Facebook will begin by offering a base bounty of $500 and will be willing to pay more if the flaws discovered are major ones. “In the past we’ve focused on name recognition by putting their name up on our page, sending schwag out and using this an avenue for interviews and the recruiting process,” Alex Rice, Facebook’s product security lead, told Computerworld, “we’re extending that now to start paying out monetary rewards....

Facebook took quite a bit of criticism over the weekend after it quietlyrolled out a featurethat allowed third-party app developers to request your home address and phone number. Now the company hasannouncedthat the feature will be suspended while it makes “changes to help ensure you only share this information when you intend to do so”. Facebook has found itself the subject of another lawsuit after a father has sued the company for not obtaining permission from parents or guardians before letting members of the social network “Like” products or brands. The AFP reportsthat the civil suit, filed by Scott Nastro in a US district court in New York calls for all Facebook members in the state that are younger than 18 years of age which have had their names of photos used in Facebook’s “Social Ads” to be listed....
