Google hasannouncedthat Google Apps users are getting the new look that is spreading across Google’s consumer products including Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Docs. The changes will be rolling out over the next few months and the updates will mirror changes found in the regular apps. Some of the changes are already here, so if you’re a Google Apps admin, you might want to check them out. Google Apps administrators can choose to have their Apps users get the new look at close to the same time as consumers, or they canschedule the changesto appear later in order to acclimate users....

Google recentlyannouncedsome changes to its Google Apps for business. Free business accounts with more than 10 users will now have to sign up for a paid Google Apps for Business account. At the same time, new flexible billing options have been introduced to help small businesses adapt. Free accounts were previously limited to 50 users but that number is now reduced to 10. Schools and non-profits that use Google Apps for Education are not affected and will continue to enjoy Google’s services for free....

Google Apps, the search giant’s suite of cloud-based tools and services, is seeing more than 3,000 companies around the world sign up for the service each day, reveals Google chief Robert Whiteside. Whiteside, head of Google enterprise for UK, Ireland and Benelux, highlighted that around three million businesses now use Google Apps for email, calendar and web services, a third of which are located in Europe, the Middle East and Africa....

There’s a lot to be said for great design. In fact, may things have been said, including the idea that good design is only complete when nobody notices it. Google, as much as we may love its products, has never really been known for its design prowess. Google Assistant is great for knowing weather forecasts, checking scores of my favorite sports teams, or asking it to show nearby restaurants. But one of my huge complaints with it is that when I try to call a contact, it would often fail to recognize their name. I live in India, and because of the diverse nature of the country names, people in my contacts and their pronunciations vary a lot....
