Some nine months after Google made its bid for an acquisition of airfare gurus ITA, the Justice Department has approved the transaction. Soon, according to theGoogle Blog, you’ll be able to search for “flights to somewhere sunny for under $500 in May” and Google’s software will mesh with ITA’s in order to allow you to purchase just that. Of course, there are some stipulations. ITA is the software that is primarily responsible for the booking of all flights in the US, and as such many other outlets (read: Expedia, Priceline, et al) were all very interested in Google’s new role....

Google is finally paying attention to making Android on tablets more useful with a new hub calledEntertainment Space. This feature combines all things entertainment — videos, TV shows, movies, games, and books — under a new page. The new hub will live on the left side of the home screen that you can access just with a swipe. Once you sign into apps that you subscribe to, you’ll start seeing content in the Entertainment Space....

Google has todaylauncheda new site geared towards helping Google Music users discover new music. The site, calledMagnifier,will feature music, videos, live performances, interviews and free songs that users of Google Music beta can add to their collection. The site is launching today featuring My Morning Jacket and Google is giving away two tracks to Music Beta users. To get the tracks you’ll need a Music Beta membership. Magnifier will be featuring a free song of the day, much in the way that Apple does via iTunes....
