Google has been spotted testing an interface that appears to be optimized for infinite scrolling,Google Operating System reports. This experimental layout features fixed navigational elements that scroll with the page, and loses the pagination in favor of infinite scrolling. Google is using a simple solution — fixed elements are as old as CSS itself — to solve a problem you’ll run into with many infinite scrolling apps: the further down you get, the more movement is required to get back to navigational elements....

Google is testing a new layout which appears designed to bring to tablet devices the new design aesthetic we’ve recently seen applied to the likes ofCalendarandGmail.Update below. As reported byDigital Inspiration, the screenshots below show a navigation bar across the top of the screen replacing the previous sidebar navigation, complete with drop-down menus for filtering results. Additionally, the ‘Goooooooooogle’ graphic at the foot of the screen is gone, replaced by a cleaner, if less fun, row of numbers to navigate to later pages....

Google has added voice commands to its desktop Web search tool for some international users, we’ve learned. This information is thanks to a tipster in Australia, who sent us a screen shot (seen above). We also have confirmation from a Google Chrome user in Germany who has been testing it out. U.S.-based Google Chrome users have been able to conduct voice searches for some time,perhaps since May, but we have not been able to confirm that the feature is available to all international users at this time....

Googlehas saidit will shut down its Street View maps service in Switzerland, unless the Swiss Federal Tribunal dismisses a lower court decision in April that requires Google guarantee complete anonymity of people pictures in its Google Maps service. The company was previously told it must ensure all faces and vehicle license plates are blurred before images are uploaded to the Street View service to provide panoramic views of streets and locations in the European country....
