We received multiple reports earlier today from people who have received direct messages from friends on Twitter asking whether it was them pictured in a photo – with a link included. We refrained from covering the story in the hope that Twitter would have gained control of the situation but hours later, they arestill rife and spreading fast. The messages might say “is this you in the video?” or “is this you in this picture?...

Anew reportfrom the Lord Administration and Works Committee has said that restrictions blocking the use of electronic devices in the House of Lords are “incomplete, outdated and contradictory”, proposing that peers can refer to iPads, smartphones, ebook readers and other tablet devices during debates as long as they are remain silent. Restrictions will be placed upon what content can be accessed during debates, members will be required to accesss only Parliamentary papers and documents which are relevant to the discussions taking place....

A US House of Representatives subcommittee is planning a vote to overturn Net Neutrality regulations, approved on a 3-2 vote in December. Net neutralityregulations are designed to ensure that telecommunications customers can’t provide preferential bandwidth to services that pay the provider for the privilege. For instance, on a non-neutral network, the provider may preference Yahoo! over Google in exchange for cash, affecting the ability of users to enjoy their preferred search engine without a penalty....

We recently covered a House of Representativespanel’s plans to vote on the net neutrality regulations. Today the results are back, and the panel has voted 15 to 8 to invalidate the regulations. The bill that invalidates the regulations must now go to a vote in House Energy and Commerce Committee. However, it’s likely that the rules will remain in effect–the bill is unlikely to pass the Democratic-controlled senate, and would require President Obama, a supporter of theFCCregulations, to back it as well....

Microsoft has revealed the opening date of its forthcoming retail location in Houston, TX: June 23rd. That puts the opening of the store exactly one month from today. The company also revealed that Kelly Clarkson will be performing at the store on the 25th of June, two days after its opening, to help launch the location. This is standard operating procedure for Microsoft, which seems to have been bitten by the musical bug of late, going on a binge of hiring pop stars to push and promote its stores and product releases....
