I would never say that New Yorkers are known to be unkind. But it’s a tough city. I fear this concrete jungle is slowly, day by day, killing the hippy inside me, particularly at moments when I find myself pushing young children out of the way to get on the L train.
ForImprov Everywhere‘s latest mission, the spontaneous theatrical group left a megaphone attached to a wooden lectern in New York City’s Union Square with a sign that read, “Say Something Nice.”
We wanted to see what would happen if New Yorkers were given the opportunity to amplify their voices to “say something nice.”
The experiment was produced as part of theGuggenheim Museumexhibitionstillspotting nyc. This is their second collaboration in the series, the first beingThe Mute Button. The results are joyous, and yet another reminder that kindness in this city is all around us; it’s just more obvious with a megaphone.
