Apple has released an update to OS X, bringing it to version 10.6.8,reportsThe Loop. This update is available through software update ordirectlyfrom Apple’s website. The updates to OS X include enhancements to the Mac App Store to prepare for upgrades to OS X Lion. It also addresses ‘known variants’ of Mac Defender.
The 10.6.8 update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Snow Leopard and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac, including fixes that:
Updates to the Mac App Store make sense as Apple has stated that this is the only way that users will be able to purchase and install OS X Lion. An interesting tidbit from this update is that Apple seems to be referring to Lion as ‘Mac OS X Lion’ again, even though throughout the banners and materials relating to WWDC, it stuck with the simplified ‘OS X Lion’, leading many to believe that the company would be moving away from the Mac.
