Hot on the heels of theannouncementthat HP was launching a 64GB version of its TouchPad tablet in Europe, news has emerged that the price of the 16GB version will be slashed in the UK to £89, with the 32GB version available for £115.

As TechRadarreports, Mark Webb – Head of Media Relations at Dixons, a UK online retailers, tweetedthis earlier:

“Dixons.co.uk: HP Touchpad SALE, Limited Stock online from later today. £89 for the 16gb and £115 for the 32gb.”

It will be limited stock only though, and by the sounds of things you will need to be quick to pick up a bargain. At the time of writing, Dixons issellingthe 16GB/32GB HP TouchPads for £349.99 and £429.99 respectively, so the new prices represent a quite significant saving.

UK electrical retailers Currys and PC World will also offer the HP TouchPads at the same reduced prices starting from tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. The massive price drop is due to initialpoor salesof the tablets and, in fact, it iskillingoff its webOS device development altogether.

US consumers are also benefiting from the price drop, and the TouchPad is costing $99 for the 16GB version, and £149 for the 32GB version. These had been available directly from the HP website, but aresold out.
