The Dublin Web Summit, taking place later this month, is shaping up to be a major fixture on the season’s conference circuit, with high-profile speakers from the likes of Youtube, LinkedIn, Amazon and the New York Times. What’s more, a newly announced scheme will get three European startups to the event free of charge.
AStartup Fellowshipbeing run by the Summit organisers will see three startups selected to attend and exhibit at the event at no cost, and one of the three will be invited to pitch from the main stage. There’ll be an opportunity to do ‘office hours’ with Youtube founder turned investor Jawed Karim of Youniversity Ventures, too. The whole package is worth €5000.
The Fellowship is open to European startups less than 3 years old that have raised less than €3m raised in funding. The successful three companies will get two tickets to the Summit, an exhibition space and up to €200 refund on flight costs.
It’s undoubtedly a great opportunity for European startups – attendees at the event will include speakers like Jawed Karim, co-founder of YouTube and also the developer of some of PayPal’s core components; Eric Ly (LinkedIn co-founder); Michael Birch (Bebo co-founder); Werner Vogels (Amazon CTO & VP); Ethan Beard (Director, Facebook Developer Network); Mikael Hed (Rovio CEO), and Tristan Nitot (Mozilla Europe President). Prominent European VC and Skype founder, Niklas Zenstromm has also been added to the bill, it’s been announced.
