The media landscape is changing at breakneck speed and while we track many of those changes here at The Next Web, it’s worthwhile sitting back from time to time and contemplating things a bit more deeply. That’s whatMedia Evolution’s The Conference, taking place in Malmö, Sweden, on the 24th and 25th of August aims to do.
This year The Conference explores who the media industry’s future audiences are, the technology we communicate with, and how the way we create media changes to fit the era we live and work in.
There are some excellent speakers lined up for the event. These include Moheed Ahmad, the Head of New Media at pioneering news networkAl Jazeera; Amber Case, cyborg anthropologist and founder ofGeoloqi; artist, media agitator and former KLF memberBill Drummond; and Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator in the Department of Architecture and Design at New York’s brilliant Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
The two-day event is split into three sections, named ‘Who’s Next’ (exploring the demands of the next generation of media consumers), ‘Man & Machine’ (looking at how technology blends with media experiences) and ‘Creation’ (looking at the future of media products and how they will be created). Each strand consists of keynote talks; multi-speaker sessions; roundtable discussions; and unconference-style sessions.
