As we noted in our report onCopenhagen’s startup sceneyesterday, it seems that a Danish HQ and a San Francisco satellite office is a common tactic employed by tech firms in the city. NowEndomondo, which offers a mobile fitness tracking on multiple mobile platforms, has announced its own plans to set up a presence in the Bay Area.
The expansion is thanks to a newly announced funding injection of $2.3m from Denmark’sSEED Capital. While Endomondo will be using the US presence to establish new commercial partnerships and house some developers, it will maintain its base in Denmark. The new co-incides with the announcement that its app has been downloaded 5 million times across all platforms.
I caught up with co-founder Mette Lykke at the startup’s Copenhagen base in a historic building where gunboats were prepared to be sent to war against the British in the early 19th Century, to find out more about the news.
