We already launched our owniPhone appjust forthe conferencebut we know a lot more cool apps you can download beforethe conferenceto get the most out of Amsterdam.
Here is a list of awesome iPhone, and some android, apps you should get.
The Next Web conference AppThe schedule, the locations, the conference network, tweets, pictures and videos.
I AmsterdamActual & factual information about the city of Amsterdam, stuff you must see, and other vital and usefull information for tourists.
Queensday AppRight after the conference Queensnight and Queensday kick-off. Use this app to check out line-ups, pics and tweets and rehearse our national anthem!
ShoudioA Location Based Audio Platform with audio guides for Amsterdam. Browse the #cityguide channel or leave your own audio recordings behind.
MobypictureShare your pictures and videos right on the TNW conference live platform with this media sharing platform. There are many competing platforms but Moby is based in Amsterdam so you better use this while you are here!
FoursquareThe best way to share your location with other attendees is probably still Foursquare. Esspecially during Queensday when things get hectic (1 million people party!) this might work better than shoutin and waving at each other. The Dutch(only!) equivalent for foursquare isFeest.je. It is Foursquare compatible and TNW happens to own a pretty big chunk of shares in this company :-) )
CoffeetrackerAndroid only(!) but certainly not your ordinary Coffee app. Read some tips on how to use what his app helps you find at my ‘how to survive Amsterdam‘ post.
22tracksDidn’t bring your iPod? Don’t worry. Chill out in style in your hotel withThe Next Web playlistor some other curated playlists in 22 different genres by Amsterdam’s finest curators. Available athttp://22tracks.comor in the Dutch and Belgium iTunes store.
TripitI upgraded to Tripit Pro after using it just once. Traveling with Tripit is awesome. You can just rely on the App to tell you where you next gate is, if the plane is still on time and all that without entering any information; just forward your eTicket to plans@tripit.com and they will take of everything.
TXXIThe easiest way to hail a cab in Amsterdam is by using the TXXI app. Launch it, let the GPS do its work, click confirm and within minutes a taxi will show up. More on dealing with taxisin this post.
CardcloudSure, you could bring paper business cards, always a good idea. But why not switch to an all digital solution? Try cardcloud. It is a simple and super easy to use iPhone app where you simply enter someone else’s email address, push a button, and they will receive your contact details in vCard format. Read ourCardcloud reviewhere.
BC ReaderIf you meet people who still don’t use Cardcloud (tsk) you can use this app to quickly scan and OCS paper business cards. It actually works.
Nike+or RunkeeperIf you enjoy running you might enjoy using Nike+ or Runkeeper to keep track of your Amsterdam track and then brag about it on Facebook and Twitter of course.
ViberUse Viber to make free phone calls right on your iPhone. Other Viber users don’t even have to be online (unlike Skype) and will get a push notification when you call. By far the easiest solution for free phone calls on your iPhone.
QRReaderfor reading QR codesThe buildings around the conference terrain are all marked with QR codes. Use this app to read them and find out more about the history of your surroundings.
What apps did I miss? Let me know in the comments…
Data RoamingAll of this app usage might leave you with a huge roaming bill. Or not? For our upcoming conference we have asked Droam, the cheap data-roaming provider, to be ourofficial Data Roaming partnerThey have a special offer for our international guests; € 12,50 per day and no data limit!
You can pay with your credit card and you can even choose to receive your Droam at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol or at your hotel.
