According to areportby This is My Next, Google will announce a Near Field Communication (NFC) payment system tomorrow called Google Wallet. The payment system will be acompanyed by several retail partners including The container Store.

TiMN says that NFC readers will arrive in stores around September 1st. Customers will be able to pay for items by tapping their phones on the devices. The information seems to come from an internal memo sent out by The Container Store.

This is likely thepartnership with Sprintthat Bloomberg reported on Tuesday. That program was rumored to be launching in 5 cities including New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington DC. It was to use NFC-equipped Sprint phones and companion devices installed in participating retailers.

Sprint currently manufactures the Nexus S, which is NFC capable. While the memo looks legitimate, we’ll just have to wait for the Google event to know for sure. It will take place tomorrow, May 26th in New York.
