Taiwanese smartphone giant HTC has followed through with its threat to protect its intellectual property in its legal fight against Apple by filing a new lawsuit in the U.S District Court in Delaware, seeking an import and sales ban in the U.S on numerous Apple products.
HTC claims that Apple infringed upon three patents through the sale of Mac computers, iPhones, iPads and other devices, filing a lawsuit to halt importation and sale of infringing devices.Reuters reportsthat the company also seeks compensatory damages, triple damages for willful infringement, and other remedies.
The actionfollows an announcementby the US International Trade Commission (USITC) that said it will launch a probe into claims that HTC infringed portable communications patents held by Apple, a complaint that was first issued in July. Apple filed action against HTC over patents related to portable communications devices, such a user interfaces.
