A year ago, TNW visited an up and coming event calledSocialDevCamp Chicago, and we wereblown away. It was an intimate event, with a much broader cross-section of technology oriented people than we were used to seeing at such conferences.
Needless to say, this year TNW is a media sponsor. We just couldn’t say no. The event, now just 15 days away (August 26th-28th), promises to do its previous edition one better.
As before, it will feature a weekend conference, a packed hackathon (TNW may cover the winner, so get coding), and an ‘unconference’ element that allows for mixing and meeting.
While we noted that the attendees are the reason that SocialDevCamp first caught our eye, this year’s speaker line up is certainly no slouch. The top of the roster includes Alexis Ohanian of Reddit, Julien Smith (the co-author ofTrust Agents), and Robert Taylor, friend of TNW and Rackspace guru.

You can find the list of the other 17 speakershere. Two tracks will run concurrently all day Saturday and Sunday. The event is changing venue this year moving itself to the North Side, something that should make it a bit more convenient to get to.
Tickets areridiculously cheap, and if you use the code “thenextweb” at checkout, you’ll save 20%, meaning youcan go for $60.
And, of course, I myself will be in attendance, so if you missed talking to TNW at TechWeek, or want to rap us on the skull for not answering your emails, you can corner and berate me the event. Bring beer if you want instant attention and love.
Believe it or not, this is the graphic that event is using to describe itself (it’s apt):
