Music streaming website MOGtoday announcedit will move into the world of consumer electronics as part of a partnership with Samsung, making available its 12 million song catalog to owners of Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-ray players.

Samsung has enjoyed success with its range of Smart TVs and Blu-ray players, recently surpassing one million downloads on via its Samsung Apps platform. The new partnership will seeMOG’sapp placed in the What’s New and Lifestyle sections on the store, providing users with an ad-free, unlimited, on-demand access to its entire catalog of songs.

To make it as easy as possible to search and listen to music, MOG has developed a “10-foot user interface” which provides high-quality navigations of albums, artists or songs, delivering streams at 320kbps for the highest quality music playback.

Unfortunately, MOG will not offer its ad-supported, free playback version that can be found via the browser, instead requiring users to sign up for one of two subscriptions. Access to MOG via Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-ray players, its desktop app and via the browser will cost $4.99 a month – if you want to use it on the same platforms but also your mobile, you will need to subscribe to MOG’s $9.99 subscription.

The move follows that of rival streaming service Pandora, which isalready availableon Samsung’s Apps platform for home entertainment devices. The partnership helped bring the service to the general consumer, driving its growth in the process. MOG will hope its move to Smart TVs will do the same for its service, tempting people to purchase one of its subscription plans to increase its revenue.
