With an official Android Gingerbread upgrade slated forlater this month, Samsung Galaxy S users could be tasting Android 2.3.2 sooner that planned after what looks to be an official Gingerbread ROM leaked to the internet ahead of schedule.
The update was noticed by German Android websiteSmartDroid, who have said the ROM features Samsung’s custom TouchWiz 4 UI although it is still in a beta stage.
Slashgear addsthat the update will only work on the original GT-I9000 model, which is the European model, meaning owners of one of the many Samsung Galaxy S variants in other regions will have to hang on until the official updates are released.
The update will adapt the Galaxy S so that it takes advantage of the EXT4 filesystem. Before, the smartphone used RFS, which has been found to be slow at times and would freeze phone operations for small periods whilst it accessed on-board storage.
