Hot social audio platformSoundCloudhas just announced a range of improvements to its service, including integration with Foursquare, Facebook and Songkick, plus a new mobile-optimised website.
The service’s mobile experience has been boosted with improvements to both the Android and iPhone apps, including the option to check in on Foursquare. This gives users the option to ‘shout out’ links to recordings when they do so, and should be great for sharing audio with a location-based context. Interviews, gig recordings or even ambient sound could help add a little more meaning to a check-in in certain circumstances.
Musicians looking to SoundCloud as part of a solution to replace their old-hat Myspace profiles will be pleased to hear thatSongKickgig listings can now be added to profile pages.
Adding to today’s bevy of new features, a new mobile-optimised version of the SoundCloud website has gone live and social sharing features have been added to the recently-launched Mac desktop app. Finally, SoundCloud is set to roll out the ability to sign-up and log-in using your Facebook account next week.
The new features come at an exciting time for the nascent ‘social audio’ movement that wediscussedrecently. Berlin and San Francisco-based SoundCloud is the highest profile player in the space, boastingover 3 million registers usersandbig-name investment.
