Just one month afterThe Guardian launched in America, The Guardian News & Media announced its Guardian iPad edition is now available on the App Store today. The Guardian App, mirroring the Guardian’s Monday through Saturday paper, was created specifically for the iPad.

The Guardian iPad editionis available on Newsstand, a feature ofthe new iOS 5that allows users to find digital newspapers and magazines in one dedicated place in the App Store, and organize them within a digital bookshelf. The app carries UK-based content from that day’s newspaper, including most of the editorial sections and supplements including reviews, sports and features.

On Saturday, the Sport, Review, Travel, Family, Money and Work sections are all included along with the main newspaper. However, the iPad edition does not contain Weekend magazine, the Guide, the Observer or crosswords and other puzzles.

Features of the app include:

While the Guardian App for iPad is available for free for three months from launch from Newsstand in iOS 5, and fromthe App Store, it will cost a steep £9.99 a month thereafter. In comparison, The New York Times’ digital subscription to its app costs $5.00 a week, so is thus more expensive. But many would argue, you are paying for much richer content.
