Broadcasting live video streams from mobile phones is something that has been possible for several years, and despite the fact it’s never quite gone mainstream, it can still be a useful tool for sharing a memorable event as it unfolds. Indeed, it has beena useful toolthis year during the ‘Arab Spring’ uprisings this year.
Now the organisers ofStockholm’s Pride festivalare looking to make their mark in the history of the medium by achieving the largest number of mobile live video streams in one day when the event takes place this Saturday.
No official Guinness World Record yet exists for mobile live streaming, but the goal is to top 10,000 streams from the event throughout the day. Given that 20,000 participants and 250,000 spectators are expected to attend the event, only a small proportion would need to publish a stream in order to meet the taget, although 10,000 still sounds ambitious to us.
To take part, attendees are being asked to use Stockholm-based livestreaming serviceBambuser. Full details can be foundhere(in Swedish).
