Yuri Vishnevsky, a computer science and linguistics student, has created an interactive generative art experiment that allows users to generate art in real-time on the screen.
Silk, is aKickerStarterproject that currently enables users to create art on its site however Vishnesvsky hopes to bring it to iOS devices soon. On the site, users can drag their mouse within the interactive interface to whirl and transform the beautiful designs on the screen. Drawing lines on the screen will add colour to the moving art it will follow the paths you create while enabling you to speed up and slow down the movement. By holding shift, users can even control the direction of wind which will affect the flow of the art. When the masterpiece is finished, it can be replayed or shared with friends on Facebook and Twitter.
Silk is developing an iOS app for it’s magical art experiment and it’s currently looking for funding onKickstarter.com. To date, Yuri has been able to attain over $1200 for the project and has 59 backers.
With the use of multi-touch surfaces on tablets, generative art becomes a hypnotic and engaging experience that we’ve previously seen in iPad apps likeVortex.A, the app showcased within the video below.
