Twitter has just notified its users via aTweetthat it will begin notifying them that someone they follow has retweeted or favorited one of their tweets. The new notifications will apparently be delivered in the same manner that current notifications about direct messages and new followers are sent.Updated.
We’re hoping that they will also add the ability to manage those notifications as some users could quickly be overwhelmed. Twitter recentlychanged the lookof the DM and New Follower emails to reflect the new look of the site and to emphasize connections.
The new feature is rolling out now to Twitter users and is not accessible to everyone. If you have the new feature available in your Twitter email options or have started receiving emails when someone Retweets or Favorites you, let us know in the comments below.
Update:Twitter userKevin Nunezhas sent us the following screenshot, taken bySteve Strezaof the new options in Twitter’s web dashboard and the New Favorite email.

It’s worth noting that Favstar.fm, a free site that gathers your Tweets that garner Favorites and RT’s for you to see, already offers email notifications of Favorites in theirFavstar Bonus Features. You can get customizable emails on every Fav, or increments such as every 5 or 10. You can also get these notifications in the form of Direct Messages from Favstar.
We will update this post with more information regarding this new feature as we receive it.
