UK mobile operatorThree is to allow customerssigned to its new or existing monthly tariffs to upgrade their plans to include all-you-can-eat data for an additional £3 per month, becoming available as of October 7.
Three already offers unlimited data onThe One Plan tariffand also extends the same allowance to customers that have signed up for its £15 bundle deal onPay As You Go, but today’s announcement allows those who may have entered a contract not quite suitable to them to upgrade their tariff and ensure they aren’t charged for additional data traffic on their data-consuming smartphones.
The company has identified that 98% of its upgrading customers are opting to buy a data-intensive smartphone, calculating that its iPhone 4-owning customers have almost tripled the average data consumption from 488MB a month to 1.2GB. With that in mind, Three has also enhanced its Talk & Text plans, providing customers with specific numbers of texts or minutes, but adding all-you-can-eat data to the mix, to better serve smartphone owners that want to browse the web or download and utilise smartphone apps.
The new plans are separate from the existing Talk & Text tariffs, providing Three customers with more choice over which mobile plan is right for them.
