Hello! I’m Joel Falconer, and I’ve been working in online media for the last six years, mostly as a freelancer and at startups such asStepcase LifehackandEnvato. I’m excited to be an editor at The Next Web, where I look after ourDesign & DevelopmentandAustraliachannels.

What’s happening at TNW Australia

TNW Australia was lucky to have Kim Heras at the helm in 2010, but it’s been a while since the site has had someone bringing you Australasian tech news and reviews. I’ll be reviving the channel and talking to and about the country’s startups, and keeping you informed on broader developments in technology here.

It’s an exciting time to be talking about Australian tech, with more startups springing up here than ever before, the National Broadband Network taking up much of the country’s political discussion as a main point of contention between the government and the opposition, and Senator Conroy’s censorship scheme just waiting for the right moment to raise its ugly head again.

How can you help?

If you run or work for a startup, I’d love to hear from you. The Australia channel’s main purpose is to cover the best new web technology coming out of the country. We’re also covering the industry and its breaking news, so if you have a tip on a great story that’s developing, get in touch! I can be reached atjoel@thenextweb.com. Looking forward to hearing from you!
